Childhood Vaccines
Our Nurse Bairbre Doyle will administer your child’s vaccines in accordance with the HSE’s childhood vaccination schedule on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. For information on what vaccinations you child will need, please go to www.immunisation.ie or pop into the surgery.

Pneumococcal Catch Up Campaign
If your baby was born between 2nd September 2006 and 30th June 2008 they will need to receive a dose(s) of pneumococcal vaccine.  Please contact the surgery to schedule an appointment

Antenatal Visits
Merrion Medical is part of the Antenatal Combined Care scheme which gives you 6 antenatal visits, a post natal check for you and a 2 week and 6 week check up for the baby free of charge from your 24th week of pregnancy. To participate in this scheme you must simply sign up when you visit the Doctor to confirm your pregnancy

Travel Medicine
Merrion Medical provides comprehensive travel advice and vaccinations for our patients. We recommend that you book an appointment approximately 6 weeks before you travel to ensure that you will have adequate cover for any vaccines that are required for your trip. Merrion Medical is also a recognized Yellow Fever vaccination center

Blood and Urine Tests
Blood/urine tests are available with our Nurse Bairbre Doyle on Mondays from 8:30am, Wednesdays from 10am and on Fridays from 8:00am when ordered by the Doctor. If you, like a lot of people don’t like blood tests or are not sure of the procedure please let Nr. Doyle know in advance, so that she can ensure that you are as comfortable as possible through out. If you have any queries regarding the Doctors instructions or about whether or not you need to be fasting, please contact the clinic

Ear Syringing
Ear syringing is available with the with our Nurse Bairbre Doyle on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Be sure to tell us when you book your appointment that you want your ear syringed as you may need to put some drops in the affected ear/s for a number of days before your appointment to soften the wax

Flu Vaccines
Seasonal Flu Vaccines are now available to protect you from the seasonal flu virus. You will need to get the seasonal flu vaccine very Winter to protect you from the flu. We particularly recommend that persons over the age of 65 years and young people with a long-term illness receive the vaccine each Winter. Nurse Bairbre Doyle can administer your vaccine on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Please book an appointment at reception.

Swine Flu

Annual Health Screens
Annual Health Screens are available from Dr Sarah Carty and Dr Enda Ryan and normally involve blood tests and a physical exam to give us a snapshot of your current state of health. If you would like to avail of this service please book an appointment at reception. Please note that you may be required to fast for some of the blood tests.

Sexual Health Screens
Merrion Medical offers full Sexual Health Screens. Appointments are available with male and female Doctors please advise us when booking. Results are usually available 2-3 weeks after your appointment

Cervical Smear Tests
All eligible women aged from 25 years to 60 years are entitled to a cervical smear test free of charge with our Nurse Bairbre Doyle through Cervical Check. If you would like to avail of this service please register either online at www.cervicalcheck.ie or by phone on 1800 45 45 55 to receive an invitation letter. Once you have received your invitation letter please contact the surgery to book an appointment with Nr. Doyle who is available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. If you are under 25 years and would a cervical smear test, we can provide this service for a fee. Please enquire at reception.

Nurse Consultations;
Our Nurse Bairbre is available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to administer your Flu Vaccine, take blood tests, check your Blood Pressure, Dressings and administer Childhood Vaccinations. If you would like to make an appointment please phone the surgery

Late Night Opening 
Dr Enda Ryan and Dr Sarah Carty will be running a late surgery on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Please enquire at reception

ECG Tests 
Electrocardiogram Tests measures the trace electrical impulses of the heart and gives important information regarding the rhythm and structure of the heart. Our Nurse Bairbre Doyle can perform these tests when referred by the doctor

24 Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring
Our 24 hour Blood Pressure Monitor gives a recording of your blood pressure over a 24 hour period to give an average blood pressure reading. This gives the doctor a more accurate assessment or your blood pressure than a conventional surgery reading. Our Nurse Bairbre can perform these tests when referred by the doctor

Cryotherapy
Liquid Nitrogen is used to remove warts and skin tags. This procedure is carried out by the Doctor. Please be aware that more than one visit may be necessary

Merrion Medical is a recognised Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre. For more information, please call us on 01 269 1876.

Dr. Helen Cummiskey is available for child and adult consultations. She has a special interest in medico-legal assessments. Please call 01 2603052 for an appointment.

Consultant Psychiatrist - Dr. John J. O'Connor, M.B. M.R.C. Psych.

Dr O’Connor’s special interests are Treatment of Alcohol Dependence Syndrome, Addiction within the Medical/Nursing Profession, Medico/Legal Psychiatry and General Adult Psychiatry. Please call 01 648 8626 to make an appointment.
